Frequently Asked Questions

About Liposomal Supplements

What are the differences between regular dietary supplements (powder, tablets, capsules) and liposomal formulations?

For practical reasons, most supplements are administered orally. This means that the vitamins, minerals or botanicals must first pass through the mouth. They then must move through the stomach and in to the intestines for absorption. Unfortunately, unprotected substances are often damaged in this way or the intestine wall can only absorb part of the product. In liposomal formulations, active ingredients pass through the mouth and stomach largely unharmed thanks to the products encapsulation. .This allows almost complete absorption as lposomes consist of lipid bilayers. Since cell membranes also consist of lipid bilayers , liposomes are ideal carrier structures and easily taken up.

What are the differences between liposomal powder and liquid liposomal formulations?

Liposomes need water. They are very similar to our cellstransport structures which function withn a water environment:our body. Their building blocks, the phospholipids, have a water-soluble and a water-repellent end. Such molecules are amphiphilic. Only an aqueous environment repels the water-insoluble areas, causing them to gather on the inside of a layer. Double layers then form spheres. Drying processes, such as freeze drying, can damage the liposomes and reduce their functionality. In order to provide the highest quality, we therefore produce liquid supplements

Do you have studies on liposome stability?

We base our data on existing studies. Recently, we installed our own research laboratory. Our Research and Development Department is currently working towards generating data on the stability and bioavailability of our product.

How to Develop Your Own Formulation

Do you provide full service? Can you provide a product ready for sales?

We do, to a certain extend. This depends on the wishes of the customer.

Our Sales Team always tries to find a solution best suitable for you and your product.

What we can help you with:

  • product development
  • ordering the raw material
  • production
  • bottling
  • label consulting & design

How many active ingredients can be included in a Liposomal Formulation?

This completely depends on the product. Active ingredients differ in their water solubility, which is a key factor for the amount that can be put into a formulation.

Other factors:

  • The ratio between active substance and phospholipid
  • The physical properties of each ingredient
  • A variety of different active ingredients can be part of your product.

Our production experts can provide information on the best recipe, leaving you with a well-balanced, stable and highly functional product.

Our Process for Contract Manufacturing

What is the minimum quantity for contract manufacturing?

Our Contract Manufacturing starts at 110L. This can add up to 120 bottles (250 ml) which is an amount you can use to firstly assess your product. From there on, you can discuss all possibilities with our sales team. Multiple packaging options or bulk delivery are possible.

What is the production time?

Generally, we calculate 4 weeks for production starting with the order confirmation. Please be sure to ask in advance what the current time frame is.

Do you also print the labels?

We can print labels in cooperation with our print supplier. Therefore, we can assist you in finding the best option. Please talk to your personal sales advisor that is going to assist you with your project. Our Marketing team can help you with designing your labels, as well.

Further Steps

Is it possible to produce liposomal capsules or pills?

It is possible to encapsulate the liquid formulation. We don’t recommend drying the product and pressing it into pills because of the quality loss. We do not provide encapsulation into gel capsules in our facility.

Could we use your liposomal formulations as a raw material?

In theory, you can encapsulate our liposomes in another lipid bilayer. You could also encapsulate them in gel capsules, if you wish to. Generally, the formulations are mixable into other liquids like juice.
